About us
The International Office is here to help all new and continuing students who come to Edinburgh from outwith the UK. We provide a wide range of services including the following:Enquiries & applications
We deal with enquiries from students, parents and visitors from outside the UK. We also assist with a range of enquiries from University staff related to international students. We receive and register all Visiting student/Exchange applications and those applications that have been submitted via our University agents or the British Council offices overseas. All applications are logged by the office before being passed to the relevant admissions office.
Opening hours
Our reception office is open 0900-1700, Monday to Friday. Ground Floor, 57 George Square.Welfare - new & continuing students
- We run an airport welcome service for new students
- for new international / visiting students
- prepare Pre-Arrival advicefor new students
- arrange student visits for applicants
- arrange police registration days for new students
- run events for international students during Freshers' week and throughout the year.
- run an Immigration Clinic which is open each day to assist students with any problem or query and to process visa extension applications
- oversee the running of the International Students' Centre which is manage by international student volunteers and provides a drop-in centre, events and get-togethers and subsidised trips around Scotland and the UK.
- We are available to all new and continuing students as a source of general support should they be experiencing any difficulties whilst in Edinburgh and we advise and link students with the wider support services that are available.
Exchanges
We manage all University-wide student exchange programmes covering Europe, the Americas, Asia and Australasia.Link to the exchanges section here
