Hospitality Scheme
for international students

For many years the International Office has operated a scheme where new international students are 'buddied' with local families and community members to help them settle in to university.

This is only possible with the great support from the university staff community.

With an ever increasing number of students from overseas coming to the University, and with financial restrictions and distance preventing many of them from going home during their time at Edinburgh, there is a greater demand for hospitality.

We would like to ask if you would be willing to invite an overseas student to join you for a coffee, family meal or visit, either during term time or over the period of the University’s general closure at Christmas and New Year.

No overnight accommodation is required.

Many thanks for your consideration.

It is with the support received from colleagues within the University that we are able to place so many of the students who request hospitality each year.
